Give a man a fish and feed him for a day....Teach him to use the internet and he won't bother you for weeks!
A government consultant with close ties to the civilian leadership in the Pentagon said that Bush was "absolutely convinced that Iran is going to get the bomb" if it is not stopped. He said that the President believes that he must do "what no Democrat or Republican, if elected in the future, would have the courage to do," and "that saving Iran is going to be his legacy."And the most disturbing thing might just possibly be the assumption that tactical "newkler" weapons can be safely used as "bunker busters", although there is plenty of other troubling stuff in this article as well. More bad decisions from the folks who told us that we'd be welcomed in Iraq with flowers and chocolates. This didn't work the last time, but this deluded group of neo-con goons want to try it again, and hope we get different results. But if left unchecked, they are just going to keep doing what they do best...F' things up even worse and take us down the road to the next World War...or worse!
One former defense official, who still deals with sensitive issues for the Bush Administration, told me that the military planning was premised on a belief that "a sustained bombing campaign in Iran will humiliate the religious leadership and lead the public to rise up and overthrow the government." He added, "I was shocked when I heard it, and asked myself, 'What are they smoking?' "
